Great Tastes of Bucharest - Walking Gastronomic Tour
1 day
Indulge your senses on a delightful gastronomic journey through Bucharest, where traditions meet contemporary flavors. This short tour invites you to savor the culinary art of Romania's vibrant capital.

Begin your adventure with a steaming cup of traditional Romanian coffee, invigorating your morning with its rich aroma. As the day progresses, delve into the world of Romanian street food, tasting "mici" (grilled sausages) and "covrigi" (twisted pretzels) from roadside vendors. "ciorbă de burtă" (tripe soup) and "mămăligă cu brânză și smântână" (polenta with cheese and sour cream).

Lunchtime presents a chance to savor modern Romanian cuisine in some of the best restaurants, where innovative chefs put a contemporary twist on classic recipes. Don't miss the chance to eat "sarmale" (cabbage rolls) or "mămăligă" (polenta) for a real taste of the region. In the afternoon, treat your sweet tooth with "papanasi" (fried doughnuts with sour cream and jam) or one of the tastiest ice creams you can find in Bucharest.

Conclude your tour by raising a glass of local wine or a shot of „țuică” (plum brandy) in a rustic wine cellar. As the sun sets, you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for Bucharest's culinary heritage, its fusion of flavors.

Day
1
Scantei Mansion - Ceausescu Mansion - Military Museum - Revolution Square- Palace of the Parliament – Victory Avenue – Unirii Boulevard

Start your 1 Day Communist Experience with a stunning building: the House of the Free Press. The building was first known as Flicker's House - ”Casa Scanteii” - named so after the official communist newspaper, The Flicker, which was printed in the premises. You will get to see the communist-looking structure and the story of the tallest building in Bucharest between 1956 and 2007.

Our second stop is at Ceauşescu Mansion (Primaverii Palace), a place with an amazing history of the communist regime. The palace is now a museum that waits for us to explore all his corners. The beauty of this touristic attraction is that we'll get to see how Ceauşescu lived as a man, in his own private life.

It's time for war! Tanks, rockets, and helicopters are waiting for you at The Military Museum - a museum that covers all of the Romanian military history. You will hear the history of our nation from World War I and World War II until the Cold War and the present.

A song says that "All good things come to an end"  but also the bad ones and so it was the dictatorship of Nicolae Ceausescu. Our journey continues with a relaxing walk on the Revolution Square - a place where hundreds of thousands of people went out in the street to break down the communist regime. Many of them have paid with their life the price of freedom.

Let's continue our journey with a promenade on the 21 December 1989 Square - a place that is named in honor of those who died during the Romanian Revolution.

Now it's time for you to see the world’s second largest administrative building. Be prepared to let your breath be taken away by the size of this Palace and its huge and amazing rooms.

The Palace of the Parliament - was the most beloved treasure of Ceausescu. Now is one of the most important sightseeing objectives that you can see in Bucharest. Also, here you will admire a complex and amazing architecture and the beautiful traces of the communist regime.

At the end of the day you will get into a story of a wooden bridge, which was transformed in Socialism Victory Avenue, and then you will walk and admire one of the most important boulevards of the city, Unirii Boulevard.  It's getting late so I'll let you prepare for the Bucharest night life
